Compiled by the different Bayeux Tapestry curators who have succeeded each other since 1842, the museum’s document collection brings together prints, letters, educational works, photographs and press articles connected to the Bayeux Tapestry, its study and its history. As a “Musée de France” (Museum of France, associated with the MAHB – Baron Gérard Art and History Museum), the museum’s scientific team continues to enrich the collection, identifying and regularly collecting heritage and scientific documents of various kinds, with a view to developing the knowledge of this work listed in the UNESCO Memory of the World register. Kept in the museum, these collections will be accessible to researchers via a dedicated documentation centre in the future renovated museum. Here you can discover a selection of some of the most remarkable of these documents, whether due to their age, originality or scientific interest.
